TISSUE ENGINEERING/STEM CELL RESEARCH
In August 2004, Dr PH Warnke and his team published their description of an operation whereby a man’s new jaw was grown in his back and then transplanted to his face. Nature journal called it a “tailor-made jaw”. They proved that Tissue Engineering/Stem Cell Research could really produce clinical results. Now bone could be grown to order and one of the major problems facing orthopaedic surgery- bone stock loss- may well be solved.

Carpal tunnel surgery
Orthopedics is a growing field with new procedures and innovative treatments for pain relief and improved quality of life. One such procedure that is increasing in popularity is carpal tunnel surgery. This minimally invasive surgery is used to alleviate the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, which includes numbness, tingling, and sharp pains in the wrist and hand due to compressed nerves. Orthopedists can easily perform this outpatient surgery within an hour, providing immediate relief of pain symptoms.
