 This patient gave a history of a paraumbilical hernia which had been increasing in size over a period of several months.

A rapid pulsation can be heard over the area marked by the sticking plaster.

This is an ectopic hernia containing an 8 month foetus and required a Caesarian operation to deliver the infant.

In Africa this would only be considered a Grade 1 hernia. Grade 1 above the knee, Grade 2 below the knee and Grade 3 on the floor!
